Many sign companies, sign makers and advertising agencies do not build every channel letter themselves. They design, sell and install – and outsource the fabrication of letters to a manufacturer that works only for the trade. Done well, this gives you access to specialised machines, finishes and capacity without the investment, while you stay the face of the project towards your client. This guide explains how trade production works, what to look for in a partner and how to keep orders running smoothly.
What "trade only" and "white label" mean
A trade-only manufacturer sells to sign professionals, not to end users. It does not compete with you for your clients. White-label production goes one step further in spirit: the product is made to your specification and delivered to you, and you present it to your client as part of your own service.
At SmileSign we produce for the trade only – for sign makers, sign companies and agencies. You keep the client relationship and the design; we produce to your specification. In practice that means you handle the sale, the design and the installation, and we work as your own production facility.
Why sign companies outsource channel letters
- Capacity. Peaks in demand – a large roll-out or several projects at once – can be absorbed without hiring or extra shifts.
- Specialised processes. Laser welding stainless steel, vacuum forming acrylic faces or powder coating require dedicated equipment and experience.
- Consistency. Standard profiles with data sheets make specifying, quoting and re-ordering predictable, which matters when the same letters are needed on many sites.
- Focus. Your team can concentrate on sales, design and installation – the parts of the job where your relationship with the client counts most.
What to look for in a production partner
Defined products and documentation
Clear profiles with data sheets make it easy to specify what you need and to explain options to your client. Our 11 channel letter profiles each have a downloadable data sheet listing materials, finishes, mounting and lighting options.
In-house processes
The more steps that happen under one roof, the fewer interfaces – and the easier it is to control quality and lead times. In our facility of 5,000 m², cutting, welding, painting, LED fitting and print are done in-house: CNC routing and laser cutting, argon welding for aluminium and laser welding for stainless steel, electrostatic powder coating and RAL painting, and LED module assembly with matched power supplies.

Quality management
Certified management systems show that processes are documented and audited. Our parent company Sentez Reklam, founded in 2000, is certified to ISO 9001 (quality), ISO 14001 (environment) and ISO 45001 (occupational health and safety). More on the about page.
Clear communication on specification and timing
A good partner asks the right questions before production, not after. Expect your manufacturer to check the artwork, confirm the specification and state the lead time with the quotation. Our quote guide explains what to send so this goes quickly.
Packing and logistics
Letters travel a long way before they reach a facade. Careful packing protects faces, returns and finishes. Every SmileSign order is packed for transport to your workshop; the delivery method is agreed with the quotation.
Breadth of products
Projects often need more than letters. A partner that also makes totems, lightboxes, stands and print lets you source a complete package from one supplier – from a single logo to a full roll-out.
How an order works
Our process has five steps:
- Send your artwork – vector file, letter heights and installation details.
- Choose the specification – profile, material, depth, colour, mounting and lighting.
- Quotation and approval – we confirm details and pricing before production.
- Production and quality control – cut, welded, finished, lit and checked in our factory.
- Packing and dispatch – carefully packed for transport to your workshop.
Tips for a smooth partnership
- Use the profile names in your briefs and internal price lists. "SML 4 with a red face, white LEDs, high mounting screws" leaves no room for misunderstanding.
- Share the installation context – wall type, indoor or outdoor, and the mounting method – so the back of the letter is built correctly. See how built-up letters are mounted.
- Plan roll-outs early. For multi-site projects, agree the standard specification once and repeat it per site.
- Keep your own client documentation – drawings, colour references and approvals – so re-orders and repairs are easy to specify later.
- Explain options to your client with clear examples. Our guides on channel letter types and materials are written so you can use them as background.
